How Does A Water Injection Pump Work

The water injection pump is a widely used type of machinery among pump products, with many varieties such as high-pressure water injection pumps, coal seam water injection pumps, and oilfield water injection pumps. It has extensive applications across various industries and fields. Below, we will further explain the working principle of water injection pumps.

The connecting rod, crosshead, and plunger then perform reciprocating linear motion driven by the crankshaft's circular motion, enabling the power transmission process. The combined valve (inlet and discharge valves) inside the pump head begins operating as soon as the crosshead drives the plunger into reciprocating motion.

The discharge valve closes when the plunger moves away from the pump head toward the pump housing. At this point, the inlet valve opens, allowing liquid medium from the low-pressure inlet pipeline to be drawn into the pump head chamber through the inlet valve. Conversely, when the plunger moves toward the pump head, the inlet valve closes, and the discharge valve opens. The plunger pressurizes the liquid medium in the pump head chamber, which is then discharged into the high-pressure outlet pipeline through the discharge valve. This cycle repeats continuously, enabling the pump to fulfill its function.
